Describe how the pedal and the car behave
Say whether the engine revs without the car pulling, whether the pedal is heavy or soft, whether gears grind going in, and when it happens. With the make, model and year, that tells the workshop where to start looking.
The clutch is not always the failing part
A pedal complaint can come from the release system, the master or slave cylinder or the hydraulic fluid rather than from a worn clutch disc. The inspection separates those before a clutch set is proposed.
Flywheel condition assessed with the clutch
When a clutch is replaced, the condition of the flywheel matters to how the repair behaves afterwards, and a dual-mass flywheel is its own cost. Ask what was found and whether the flywheel is included, resurfaced or replaced in your estimate.
